Following the success of Playful Learning: Using Computer Games in Education I decided to write up my thoughts and feelings on how to make learning more exciting in the classroom. Microsoft were again the main sponsor and agreed to edit, produce and distribute the book.
Launched in October 2012 the feedback has been outstanding and the book was downloaed over 5000 times in the first two weeks! In some local authorities in the UK it has also been emailed to all teachers and headteachers. I honestly belive that this small and simple publication has had real impact and challenged the thinking of 100's of teachers. I also hope that it has given them lots of practical ideas that they can use in the classroom.
Exciting Learning (the eBook) is free and will remain a free to download to anyone who wants a copy (I also occasionally give away some of the printed copies that we had made for a few special events).
The book is split into five short chapters titled:
- Why use technology in schools
- Pedegogical approach
- ICT for productivity and efficiency
- Creating digital content
- Overcoming the challenges and getting started
