As educators I think it’s important that we engage with research as well as conducting our own action research projects in our classrooms and schools. Access and time is often one of the biggest barriers to keeping up to date with the latest education research and goings on.
I used to quite enjoy the Education Scotland Research Roundup which on a bi-monthly basis summarized and brought together some of the most relevant and interesting articles for Scottish Education. But, unfortunately this service has lied dormant for over a year now – which is a great shame (but I got the feeling that not many people new about it really or used it to influence their practice?).
A good replacement service has been the ‘Research in Brief’ Series from the Guardian Teachers Network which provides a nice clear and concise weekly round-up of the latest research papers, methods and ideas related to teaching and learning.
Worth subscribing to if you don’t already…
