Just like last year there were lots of companies at the Education Show demonstrating the sort of things that can be done with playgrounds and outdoor learning spaces. As always the products ranged from outdoor mirrors, to furniture, to stages, to water features to playground paint.
I liked the addition of a few companies offering climbing walls this year – I would like to see more of these in school playgrounds!

But won't we need an army of spa qualified teachers to use them?

Nope....
The greatest myth in UK outdoor learning is that you have to be qualified to take children anywhere.
You just have to demonstrate that you are up-to-date with good/best practice. For a school climbing wall like this it would be the same disclaimer that parents sign to allow their children on the school climbing frame.

Hi Ollie, just noticed your post on climbing Walls in school playgrounds. We have plans to put up a bouldering wall on our school wall that faces the school garden. Parents are all keen to see this happen! Not sure where to start!
Good to see you at Echt today with Anna.

Hi Ruth, Great to see you as well - what a lovely school you have with some wonderful children!
As for your climbing wall - contact my pal Scott Muir in Aviemore. He will be able to give you some help and advice on this and a final solution if you are looking for one?
