Some pretty amazing stuff you're doing here. Was this idea something you had been playing around with in your head for a while or was it one of those sudden "Eureka" moments?

Hi Michael – the concept of using games was not a Eureka moment. People have been using this sort of ‘rich task’ enquiry approach for years. We are about to start on a similar project using Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics. The idea of using games as a non-threatening competitive environment was however one of those Eureka moments – it really helped the children at my school make the transition between primary to secondary school. Searched for the information on this theme, and only here I found it. Unfortunately many global education systems require children to have specific knowledge or specific skills that they find un-interesting. This is where teachers need to find engaging ways to deliver the content. Technology including computer games can provide this engagement.
