Photosynth is a great little application from Microsoft Live Labs. I recently mentioned it during my free tools for teacher’s presentation at Handheld Learning 2009.
Overhead View allows you to look down on the image you are viewing as if you were floating over the top of the scene.
‘Photosynth calculates a ‘cloud’ of 3D points that represent the features matched between the photos. Not only does Overhead View provide you with a different perspective on what you’re viewing, you can also navigate to other parts of the synth via this view, too. Simply hover your mouse over the part of the scene you want to visit and you’ll be shown a thumbnail from that region. Click the thumbnail and you’ll immediately transition to that part of the synth’.

This is great. I only started using P-synth last week and was impressed - really didn't feel like an MS product! This new feature looks great for helping kids orientate themselves to a particular place.
Wonder of the next step is to try something like this with video!
