I really have no idea how this works – but it looks very impressive!
PhotoSketch (link may not be working) is a program that has been developed by five Chinese students at Tsinghua University and the National University of Singapore. It transforms basic stick-figure drawings into a photograph.
There is a website to allow people to experiement with software but it looks like its still crashed under the volume of traffic!The short video below explains it all a lot better than I could

Very cool. This link ( http://cg.cs.tsinghua.edu.cn/montage/main.htm ) worked for me, though their online demo is not yet up and running.
