Today we launched a small micro research project in the MGS Modern Languages department where they will be look at the impact of the Nintendo DS Game My French Coach.
We have has a lot o success already at the school by using DS’s in Maths and Support for Learning. For me Modern Languages was the next logical evolution of the schools games based learning philosophy.
For the next 4 – 6 weeks we will be in a pilot phase. Where we will be testing the software and learning about how to best use it in the classroom. We will also conduct a micro study with the intention to conduct a more robust test in the summer term!

This is very exciting for me as a linguist and would be very keen to find out how your trial periods turns out. Please do blog about it in due course, as I am very interested, budget permitting, in getting some DSs for my department.

Hi! I was wondering whether this could be used in the Primary Sector too? P6 or P7 in my instance. I have ordered the DS and Wii versions to have a play with and our French Specialist seems keen to try it out depending on how basis it can get? We will be interested to hear how your trial goes too! Thanks.
