iPhone in Education: Google Gets Voice Search
Google and Search fans have been waiting for this for a few days. There have been various reports of its delay. But at some point today Google Apps for the iPhone was updated and now includes Google Earth and an impressive Voice Search.
More information about the Voice Search Application below (You Tube Video Below):
I thought I would give it a quick try and have to admit to
being very impressed. I don’t know why but I chose to search for ‘Edinburgh Scotland’
and it returned it to me straight away. In fact most of the places I
tried were really accurate. Great work Google – really looking forward to this becoming
more accurate and exploring its educational potential.
Here is how it works:
Open Google Apps for Mobile.
Press the search button. Press the voice search button.
Follow the prompt and say what you want to search for:
The phone will detect when you move it away from your mouth / pause for to long and start the search. Your voice algorithms will appear.
Your search results are returned:
Then I voice searched for Hot Deserts:

It does have a problem with accents - but won't it be great when Voice Search becomes built into Google Earth. Hope you are well? OB

Will be excellent - have been using this app with year 9 today seeing who it works with!
Am well - just planning a trip to the highlands and Edinburgh for April...
