First Internal ICT Session a Great Success (I think?)
Tonight we held our first Internal ICT Training session at Musselburgh Grammar School.
The session was on using images in the classroom. I was joined by over 30 people who crammed into one of the rooms in the CDT Department to hear what I had to say. The group comprised of a number of different people including secondary teachers, primary teachers, support staff, authority staff, student teachers, head teachers and senior managers. It really was a cluster approach to tackling ICT training.
With these training session my philosophy is simple. It is not dissimilar to the Teachmeet Roadshow proposed by the authority:
- There is a short 20 minute input from a presenter.
- The group get 30minutes to play around (and make something if they want to) and
- There is a 10 minute summary to tie everything together.
There was some great work and ideas being generated in the 30 minutes practical session and I was grateful to all of the staff who chipped in to help each other out. It really was peer learning at its best. Within minutes the English department were adding notes to Roald Dahl’s House on Flickr, the Geography department were labelling glacial features and the Modern Language department were adding notes in French to up-loaded images. It was fantastic work which was great to see.
I will post a more comprehensive handout of links and a screen cast of the presentation in the next couple of days (for some reason my microphone isn’t working this evening?)

Ollie - this sounds great. I hadn't realised photos could be labelled in flickr like this - great ideas....! Look forward to seeing your presentation / handouts when they are online! Rob

Hi Ollie
Sounds great just such a shame for those of us that cannot make it on a Wednesday. I'm not sure what the solution is.
Any chance of getting some of your advice online? Or maybe Friday afternoon sessions?
